Be kind to your body
It is getting warmer. The sun is out and it is nice to be outside. More people are getting vaccinated and the country is slowly opening back up.
So let this be a reminder that you need to continue being kind to your body.
Your body has survived a collective trauma of the pandemic. Your body is surviving the trauma of racial injustices as well as the intersections of other oppressed groups.
Your body is a badass at surviving EVEN when you’re not wanting it to survive. It does it well. It may look like a hot mess at some point, but you know what? Who cares! That’s just ableism talking.
If you have gained weight during this period, if you feel there is something wrong with your body because there is a change, please take a second to pause before joining the next diet. If you’re feeling poorly in your body, what is it needing? Does your body need movement and play? Is it that HIIT routine, running with friends, or playing futbol? Are you trying to nourish your body or are you trying to punish your body into submission?
There is nothing wrong with your body. It does not need to be punished or controlled. It needs love.
So what are you going to do to love your body EVEN WHEN you feel super uncomfortable in it?
